Happened to hear this song today . . . and it seemed like such an anthem for so many of us. A stepmother down the street from me feels completely isolated and alone and unheard and unseen. And I remember feeling that way, but longer ago. And, some of you that read this blog, you have told me you’re isolated and not with a stepmother-sister. So, this is a shout out to all of you who are in your house, on your street, in your community but still feeling alone.
And, to prove her point, she’s been singing songs like this for a long time . . .
As she says, everybody has a friend of a friend of a friend . . .
I hope your neighbor is able to find a support system be it friends, a pastor/preacher/priest, a therapist or the best — girlfriends! I know I’d be lost without the endless support of the women in my life.
Love Mavis!
Thanks, she’s building a system, but slowly. Of course there’s an occasional walk with me, but I’m afraid that’s not often enough. I’m completely with you about support from women in my life, it is sooooooo important. I have a date for an online chat with my stepmom girlfriend tomorrow…I love them. It keeps me feeling sane and grounded. I hope every stepmother finds a way to feel seen, heard, and understood.
And Mavis……talk about Divas. She is amazing. Glad to know someone else is enjoying her.
